Dragonboats and Barges

Worcester Dragon Boat Racing Club is a competitive sports club with a strong social and community ethos… so the old saying of ‘work hard, play hard’ applies!

We love welcoming new people, like you, to come along to look at a sport we all enjoy, and experience it for yourself by getting in a boat to try it.

It’s a fantastic way of getting fit, meeting new people (and making new friends), learning some great skills and challenging yourself.

Everyone in WDBRC supports fellow paddlers as they learn and hone their new abilities to paddle. With young people particularly, we take immense pride in seeing them develop as individuals, feel proud of their personal achievements and the contribution they make to the club’s success.

If you are interested in arranging a corporate team building event or have a social or community group that would like to have some time on the water, please give us a call and we would be delighted to talk through what you’re hoping to take away from your dragon boating experience.

So how can you get involved?

You can…

COME DOWN

Throughout the year, we paddle every Sunday morning providing BDA races are not scheduled on that day. If you just want to turn up at about 9.30am any member of WDBRC (those wearing the red branded tops) will help you find a paddle, give you a safety briefing and ensure you’re looked after on the boat. We meet at the river steps just opposite Worcester College of Technology, on the west side of the River Severn. (see map)

In the summer (between the clocks changing), we have 2 evening paddle sessions…

  • Wednesday evening at 6.30pm for lighter intensity session incorporating Worcester Busters (link to page)
  • Thursday evening at 6.30pm for everyone
